Corporate Contributions
Historically, Kennecott has been a major supporter of community activities. In fact, in the past 10 years we have contributed over $10 million to charitable organizations in Utah:
- $500,000 to the Road Home
- $600,000 to the University of Utah, Earthquake Center
- $100,000 to the YWCA
- $330,000 in scholarships to universities, colleges and trade schools in Utah
Throughout the years, Rio Tinto’s Kennecott Utah Copper and Kennecott Land have been major supporters of community activities: contributions to charitable organizations ranging from protecting the natural habitat for wildlife around the Great Salt Lake to providing a variety of educational opportunities for Utah's youth.
